Tips and Routine to Help Minimize Pores

Cleansing Morning & Night

Cleansing morning and night is very important to maintaining clean, healthy complexion. Cleansing removes any impurities that may have formed overnight while sleeping such as sweat or bacteria from pillows and dead skin cells.

At night, cleansing is crucial to remove any makeup, dirt, pollution, and the buildup of oil and bacteria that lingers on your face after a long day.

Overall the most important reason for cleansing is because the cleanser helps make sure your pores are not clogged from doing it’s thing. Here are some options at a glance that are our readers top favorites.

Exfoliate Regularly

Chemical exfoliation has become very popular over the last few years. BHA’s and AHA’s have been giving our skin a smoother appearance because it is capable of penetrating deep into the skin compared to physical exfoliants.

You’ve got to be very careful before using a chemical exfoliant so you’ll want to consult your dermatologist first.

However, there are a few brands we know and love and if your dermatologist has already approved you to use chemical exfoliants then definitely give these a try!

Moisturizer in AM & PM

Moisturizing is a staple in any skin care routine aiding to help minimize the appearance of pores. After you get your pores unclogged and cleared out, you want to help support the pores with a good moisturizer.

Moisturizing in the morning helps add a layer of protection and a barrier to anything that your face may be exposed to.

Moisturizing at night helps you repair and regenerate. If you’re unsure of what moisturizers to use and have sensitive skin, check out our other article here.

Use Retinols

To start off, we absolutely recommend contacting your dermatologist to see if you are a good candidate for retinol use.

However, if you’ve already got a green light from them and have been a long-time user of retinol then we recommended you keep retinol in your skincare routine.

Retinol works by repairing your skin cells faster so it can help with so many different things such as reduced signs of aging, improved skin texture, and minimizes acne and breakouts.

If you are looking for a higher form of retinol then you can only get that with a prescription from your doctor/dermatologist. Although we have a few recommendations that you can get over the counter.

Wear Sunscreen Daily

Sunscreen is the glue that holds it all together.

Sunscreen protects against harmful UV rays, preventions sunburns and skin damage, prevents premature aging, and most importantly maintains an even skin tone and prevents hyperpigmentation.

The only downside of some sunscreens is that it can have a bit of a white cast. And you already know it, we have recommendations for sunscreen too!

Minimized Pores The Honest Way

Minimizing pores can seem very intimidating and difficult but once you got a routine down, stick to it until you see results.

Then from there, it’s just maintenance and you can gradually start adding other products into your skincare routine. And as always, speak with your dermatologist before implementing any new products!
